Read & Download Tempted by Desire Tempted by Desire characters ´ 107 Carole Mortimer ï 7 review Librarian's note This book was published with ISBN 0373708238 which was subseuently used on another bookWould they compete for the same manSuzanne and her stepmother Celeste had never been clos. 4 Stars Suzanne s young life had not been easy since her father had married a much younger woman Having been shipped off to boarding schools and kept away during holidays Suzanne had been mostly alone And when her father died when she was sixteen Suzanne became totally alone working her way as best she could through college When her stepmother Celeste offered her a six week vacation in the lap of a luxurious hotel in London Suzanne gave in to temptation and agreed Celeste s intent on the holiday was to land a wealthy husband Suzanne s presence only leant to her credibility as a widow But the man that Celeste has set her eye on has his eye on Suzanne and this only infuriates Celeste and she tells the Italian Conte Cesare Martino lies about Suzanne s promiscuous nature Cesare makes sure that Suzanne has no doubts just how much he wants herI may have read this one when I was a teenager Thirty years ago it was very common for girls of 18 19 to marry older men especially in European cultures I was one and married when I was 19 to a man 31 Reading this love story with a 19 year old Suzanne and an older Cesare was the type of romance story I remember reading about and adoring This was a very charming story and in my opinion very well written for the times Suzanne though young instantly recognizes something in Cesare that puts her on an eual footing with him and from the start they have a volatile relationship Cesare taunts and Suzanne ignites and fights back They kiss and their response to each other leaves both breathless With many of the first Presents we re only given the heroine s point of view and learn of the hero s from his actions and the opinions of the supporting characters Cesare is at first presented as a hard bitter man but we see him differently when he reveals a part of his past to Suzanne something out of character for this man of granite and an obvious sign that he sees her as an eual I enjoyed this one very much and have come to appreciate Ms Mortimer s voice Her heroine s may be vulnerable but they are not doormats Her hero s may be arrogant but they are worthy I must soon read a recent Presents by Ms Mortimer to see if her voice holds the same charm today as it does in these early ones
